Four Victims Wounded at Howe Community Park – Unlawful Gathering Turns Violent





On April 18 2026, a large unauthorized party of a large crowd at Howe Park in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento became the scene of a shooting when 20 to 25 gunshots filled the air as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were in the midst of removing people from the park.

A Timeline of Events

Around 6:30 in the evening, the Sacramento County law enforcement received reports about people potentially carrying concealed firearms at Howe Community Park in Sacramento. A second report reported a potential physical confrontation and people leaving the area quickly.

Aerial units was called in and searched the park but did not locate the reported fight.

At the same time, hundreds of individuals had assembled at the location for what deputies referred to as an unlawful gathering. Law enforcement personnel positioned themselves around the park, illuminated the area with emergency lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes instructing attendees to vacate the area over their vehicle speakers.

As law enforcement was clearing the area, upwards of 20 gunshots filled the night air — sending hundreds of people running in panic.

Those Injured

Four shooting victims — one woman and three male victims, each in their 20s — were taken to Sacramento area hospitals. Two read more victims had injuries classified as immediate, one sustained moderate injuries, and one with minor injuries. All four were said to be in stable condition. What Was Found at the Scene

The shooting was centered on the Cottage Way side of the park adjacent to the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block. The Home Depot was briefly placed more info on lockdown. Further shell casings were discovered on Cottage Way, with bullet holes found in the metal fence surrounding the nearby Home Depot — pointing to gunfire directed south from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot. Investigators and crime scene technicians processed the scene well into the evening.

Suspects

Via scanner radio traffic, it was reported that a vehicle connected to the shooting — a Kia — was stopped in the Solano County area with four detainees. Sheriff's deputies were heading to Solano County to pick up the suspects and take them back to Sacramento County for investigation. Video confirmed that two individuals fired weapons.
